"What Inspired You to Write Self Comes to Mind?" Part One of a Series
감사합니다 I am reading the book "The feeling of what happens " I am here for understanding it better. Thanks.
The mind is easy close your eyes get a picture of a cat , that’s the mind, but who looking at it ? Fundamentals of thought read it
Good talk we are ghost in the machine of animal emotions as most people dont understand consciousness doesn't come from matter it's impossible in an infinite moment or can even think in a moment or speak only repeat speech like a bird. Means it Duel system and this animal of a human is not you it's impossible
Isn't emotion the autonomic response. This bypasses rather than supplements ; a knowledge based response
"The mind has 'Neural Maps'...called 'Memory', and which does not address what is 'Mind'. 'Mind' is a concept without physical reality, although some are 'sharp' and some are' dull'...still evolving in that process..:)
*Mind* is the *Image* that we were created as being(s)...

Are we beings that feel?I AM therefore i feel?
What I know so far about the mind is this. It is the place where we: 1. Have thoughts and ideas 2. Memories 3. Dreams 4. Self awareness Outside of that I don't know: 1. Where it is located 2. How big it is 3. Whether or not it is eternal 4. Where it came from or where it goes I do know the mind can be: 1. Damaged 2. Influenced by others 3. Etc. This frontier is very exciting. We have only seen the tip of the iceberg in our understanding of it. Neuroscience is an amazing and exciting discipline. What lays ahead? Who knows. But I will say this. It is a bad idea to integrate it with a computer like Elon Musk wants to do. I know his motive is good because he is scared of AI. But the thing he is proposing sounds terribly close to the Matrix where we become slaves. Not good.
Beautiful
_Elon Musk _*_says_*_ he is scared of AI, that definitely doesn’t mean that he’s expressing the _*_TRUTH_* .
Bedazzling information.
He's the champ. He's #1. Great talks.
He says the mind is a flow of images, but these images arise in the mind. He is saying what happens in the mind, but not what the mind is. The space in which these images arise, what is that space? The space of consciousness? In which case, there would not really be such a thing as called mind. Just what arises within the field of consciousness. Thoughts?
There must be a self, maybe a part of the mid that is able to experience those internal images. But maybe, the self is the processor of thoughts, but both are components of the overall mind, which is in itself a metaphysical manifestation of neurological processes
@@calundoconteal6851 @Calundo Conteal to clarify, when you refer to a 'part' of the mind, that can experience the internal imagery, do you mean to say that that 'part' that is in you, that 'self', is different than the part in me, that experiences the images in my mind? Or are you of the notion that, that which experiences these mental images, is the ocean of consciousness? In your second paragraph, when you suggest that the self is a processor of thoughts, to me that suggests something akin to soul, something which 'processes' thoughts & events differently based on a wide variety of factors. It is difficult to get much of any dialogue in these comment sections for many reasons, but mainly because I think so many of us have different meanings for different words, especially the notion of 'self'!
@@Matthew-369 I understand where your confusion lies, as I am also torn between the dichotomy, or lackethereof, of, the "Self" and the "thoughts" or "components of the mind" Essentilly, I was refering to a soul as you suggested, That being the mind itself, (which, you may know is derived from the idea of a soul), as the product of processing. In that, the brain would be the processor, which could be the self, biut the sensory information thats channe,ed, becimes the experience of that self, which is our, thoughts, memories, intelligence, perception, feelings, and abstract thjinking, and more. And yea, I agree about the dialogue issue, since all of this, or most of it, is educated speculation and even metaphysical, aside from the nervous system itself and our behaviors, Very hard to prove an objective observation, but, nonetheless, it is good to speakm about what we feel we know to be true, and what is our experience as humans
Excellent. The "self" of course is not a thing or entity, it is a continual construction of the brain based on interaction with the environment (outer and inner) and memory. In short, the "self" is activity of neural networks.
Best definition of "mind" that I've encountered.
*_”Best Definitions”_*_ are most frequently based on the following:_ _To be credible and effective a deception should accord as far as possible with the hopes and expectations of those it is intended to deceive"_
"We're not thinking machines. We're feeling machines that think." 2:05
So the thinking process is inseparable with emotions and body?
Human memory
Easily explains the unknowns of the self, self-components and self-related concepts with sufficient depth. Sacrosanct Intelligence By the way, I started primary school. I had learned to read and write before going to school. I still bring beans and sticks to school. For some reason I can't find suitable sticks... I take a matchstick instead of a piece of bush. A certain number is required. Mine are still missing though. Thanks God, they overlook my shortcomings because they find me intelligent. When I started school as an intelligent person; the school presented me with another reality of the society. I had assumed those who went to school were special personalities. School; seemed like it was not an institution that I would succeed and embrace. School; was as if it was the place where people who could get integrated with the school, would assume a privileged personality when they were being educated. Before school, my place in my own eyes and in the eyes of the society was uncertain. It was not clear whether I was respected, disgraced, at the bottom or at the top. Environmental factors that fed my self positively were very few. I was mostly feeding my self with my intuition that is in depths. School was the first external factor that determined my place in the society. Since it seemed that I was intelligent, my meaningful intuitions continued on a social basis as well. In the 2 years before school; I couldn't experience enough positive psychology because the strength and prideful side of my self was lacking. I can't live it now either. Again, I maintain my self with meaningful intuitions. I have as much meaning as the part of my innate intelligence that has not yet been transformed into psychology. That's why everything makes so much sense to me; including my uncles, including the few items I can see. There has been no increase in the number (or type) of items since I was 4 years old. There has been a slight increase in the number of new people I have met. It's like it didn't increase at all. That's why the volume of meaning that is in me continues at the same amount. Meaning could not turn into psychological pleasure; in short, it could not turn into normal psychology. If there was a direct increase in items and living things or if there was an increase in items and living things due to the expansion of my geographical environment; it would turn into psychology. The items and the living things remained almost constant, the meaning as well... As time passed, however, my psychology increased. Increasing psychology was not the normal psychology that should have increased with the increase in number of things and beings. It was the negative psychology caused by the consciousness and actions of my environment that were insufficient for me. Therefore; almost all of my newly formed psychology consisted of negative psychology. The reason for the existence of my normal volume psychology is that my innate intelligence meets the materials around me. Its potential is as big as my intelligence. You know, "the meaning" was as much as my intelligence... After all, there is a world we live in. The sensation of beings and my encounter with beings; would enable meaning to turn into psychology. We brought the meaning as much as our intelligence, from birth. We did not innately bring the psychology that will be formed for this world. There is a situation where the psychology does not seem to fit our originality. It fits. Because the environment; is one of the 5 parts of the self. Thus, we have said the wonderful connection that the volume of psychology will be as much as intelligence. The psychology we put on our backs later, thanks to the environment; sits in a shape in its original consistency. It is necessary for the intelligence to grasp as many various beings as it is able to grasp. Here; this necessity is the big part of what is called the self. This is what is called the soul, it is this necessity. Psychology is; the vibrations (spiritual movements) created by the relevant substances in the body for the necessity of this comprehension. This book says new things that way. The name of the book is Sacrosanct İntelligence.
Nice analogy
The mind is a series of images?
He seems to be arguing with someone who is not present in the interview, someone who puts thinking at the highest level and looks down on emotions. Mr Spock was the character in the original Star Trek who had suppressed all of his emotions and was completely logical. This would never work. Emotions and feelings not only protect us, but they give us our goals and desires, our rational mind is then able to find a way to get us what we want, so a logical life would be pretty useless.
A mind needs two things - input and an input reader. The reader part is where the action is. It is both a detector and a categorizer. Your "self" is basically a category soup. In order to categorize, you need memory if you don't want to become some other entity's dinner. You need to know what to avoid. And if it is time for your dinner, you need to know what to approach. It's that simple.
Mind is a mental thing that is just a intention and things associated with brain but not the brain
I never get tired of watching this. It's the fundamental nature vs nurture explanation.
so simple and so hard to explain, comon guis you have foe more
Ok, so one slight question I have about this is this: if the mind is a collection of flowing images, what about those who literally cannot see images? Wouldn't this discount, or disprove this definition?
I think it applies to them becouse they still have some sort of images, memory, that they construct on their on bases and still floats on their net.
Obviously no reference to the observations of Penrose and Hemeroff
Your brain is your mind materialized, and one of the functions of your mind is, the file cabinet of your past and present thoughts throughout your whole body and soul. The brain is also the transformer of your soul's consciousness. In other words, the brain is in charge to translate the information coming from your soul's consciousness.
Mind
Your soul is all your emotions put together. It's what does the feeling. It can be found the same way emotions are found. By insight and introspection, which both are rational processes by the way.

Consciousness explained. www.amazon.com/-/es/Guillermo-Brand/dp/3846577820
Many Western scientists strive to corruptly separate emotions amd consciousness which they place at the core of reason. They uphold emotions are enemies of intellect. But everything suggests Emotions are the epitome of a consciousness.
Lesser violence more reason yes.
modern spinoza
yawn
Maybe we can go one step further and explore the possibility that not only the material world is a projection from the physical brain, but this brain is also a projection from a non-material mind.
What is mind , not give propper answer
Perfect. Succinct and logical.
Sorry to say that, but damasios view to the topic emotions is not profound enough. Much more helpfull to try to understand emotions is the view of Bruce Lipton, where our subconsious seems to communicate (or work along) with our concious mind, that seems to be making the decisions needed (seemingly delayed) . Our subconsious communicates through mashine -like devices (like emotions and other sensations like fever or excaustion, when we are sick and need rest for example) with our concious, whereas our concious has a voice and articulates wishes and desires. Both systems seem to be error-prone. The big Problem though is how the fuck do these systems work together, where the border between them extends, since they seem to get activated as a whole in a perplex and complex orchestration. A new generation of researches has to tell us much more about this problem, but damasio belongs to an older generation, that seems to be stuck, lost in translation of definitions. We need researchers, who shit on definitions and grab the bulls on the horns
So you think all his life's work is compiled in this one tiny blurb?
How is this different from Damasio's? And what do you mean by emotions? You can't rely on words when you want to rid of problems of definitions
Have you considered including individuals who have had electroconvulsive therapy in your work regarding choice and emotion?
i have your book and i do not understand what the hell you mean by all of that
It seems to me that the issue is that most humans are completely absorbed in thinking and therefore the techniques that ETolle advocates for 'living in the present' are simply a way of escaping the constant stream of thought. Just because a human has evolved this ability does not mean it is healthy to use it endlessly. Perhaps we are in a state of flux, evolutionarily speaking, and ETolle is helping us balance our resources for a more peaceful existence. We can still plan when we need to.
Have you read anything by max stirner or renzo novatore on self?
We are not thinking machines. We are feeling machines that think.
We are not machines at all. It is a misconception.
We are not feeling machines we are thinking feelings that machine
@@Vidav030 we are not thinking feeling machines, we are feelings thinking about machines.
we are thinking and feeling beings.
we can be compared to machines only under the condition regarding the part of us as body.
Very well said Dr. Damasio
Humans ay, we think we are so evolved. depression toward reward, dieing toward life.
Dr David R. Hawkins in his book, "The Eye of the I" mentions that humans have two minds, an aware mind and a thinking mind. This video supports that notion and the reasoning seems sound. If I understand this this the brain stem provides the aware mind while the cortex provides the thinking mind. Does this make sense?
Yes... I just read his book, seemes pretty compatible
Question about last comment: neurons in the heart? Are these the same as in the brain? What about people who have heart transplants? They seem to be the same mentally. How would you explain that?
